EMC Recruits 1 - 6 Years Experienced as Technical Writer for VMware Division

Job Description
The VMware Technical Publications group is responsible for user and developer documentation for all product releases. Technical writers work closely with each other and members of other departments such as software engineering, quality assurance, and technical support, and plan, schedule and deliver documentation in various formats.


Responsibilities:

  • Create and update release notes, knowledge-base articles, user manuals, system administration guides, and a variety of other documentation for technical audiences.
  • Attend team meetings; gather information from meetings, product specifications, pre-release software and interviews with subject-matter experts.
  • Create documentation plans and schedules.
  • Obtain reviews and feedback on documentation from team members who may be based locally and at remote locations.
  • Update documentation and deliver documentation on schedule.
  • Respond quickly to changing needs and meet all deadlines.
  • Follow Technical Publications procedures for creating and posting documents on the web.
Desired Profile
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • At least two years experience writing for technical audiences at a hardware or software company.
  • Familiarity with the software development process.
  • Experience using FrameMaker, MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, and an HTML editing tool.
  • Experience with graphics tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with HTML.
  • Ability to schedule tasks, work independently and on a team, and meet deadlines.
  • Must have flexibility to participate in conference calls to Palo Alto (PST).
  • Experience with UNIX/LINUX experience is a plus.
  • Networking and server hardware knowledge is a plus.
Experience : 1 - 6 years
