Equity Derivatives Quant Research for BNP Paribas Capital Markets

As part of the continuing growth of BNP Paribas in India, we have three opportunities for the right candidates to join the Equity Derivatives Quant Research team in Mumbai. BNP Paribas is a global leader in the trading of equity derivatives products and is a major force in many markets. The trading, pricing and risk management activities are supported by the activities of the global quant research team. This is a very challenging area and the business users are reliant on a research team that can help keep them at the forefront of the different markets.

The team is responsible for financial instrument research, modelling and development. Typical assignments could involve testing existing models against historical observations from the financial markets, parameter estimation for model improvement, analysis and interpretation of model results or research of new instruments.

The Mumbai team will work in collaboration with the existing teams in Paris and Hong Kong. Research projects will be assigned from Paris to Mumbai. The team in Mumbai will work together to conduct the research and present their findings to the wider team or the business users.

Candidates will have excellent mathematical skills and will need to have the mindset and rigor necessary for a challenging research environment. Each candidate will have a post graduate qualification (Master or PhD) in mathematics (applied or fundamental), physics or computer science (with strong mathematics content) and have worked for a research organization with at least 2 years experience. Or the candidate may be a professor at a recognized institution who spends a high proportion of his time on research activities.

BNP Paribas India Solutions Pvt Ltd, a 100% subsidiary of BNP Paribas group. The organisation has been created to conduct activities for the international investment banking activities of BNPP that would otherwise have been staffed in London, Paris or New York.

We expect candidates to:
  • Have excellent computational and quantitative skills.
  • Have a post graduate qualification (Master or PhD) in mathematics (applied or fundamental), physics or computer science (with a strong mathematics content).
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Have excellent written and spoken English (colleagues may not have English as a first language).
  • Be able to grasp the big picture.
  • Be a self starter and able to work without needing continual management.
  • Have the IT skills necessary to be able to build working models and make use of existing libraries.
  • Be able to programme in an OO language such as JAVA or C++.
  • Know how to use a scripting language such as Python.
  • Be able to travel to Paris, Hong Kong or New York to work with colleagues for short periods if necessary (the Mumbai staff will be part of a global team).
Note: Knowledge of financial markets and equity derivatives would be an advantage. However, training would be given to the right candidates.
